What happens when we fall in love? According to science, a whole series of chemical reactions are triggered, activated by hormones and neurotransmitters within our neural circuits. Together with photographer and visual artist Giulia Iacolutti, participants in the workshop held at the Unione Ciechi e Ipovedenti (Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted) in Pordenone explored the importance of affectivity and care. In a society where pleasure is often repressed and controlled, the final performance invites us to recognize its significance in terms of biological functioning, for the well-being of both the individual and the community.

Photographer and visual artist Giulia Iacolutti (b. 1985) works across photography, performance, moving images, and participatory art to explore the connections between social contexts and natural systems. Having trained in Venice, Milan, and Mexico City, her work has been exhibited in Italy and abroad (PAC, MART, Triennale, MUAC, Kunsthalle Darmstadt). She has published the books Casa Azul (2019) and I don’t care (about football) (2023), the latter of which was a finalist for the 2023 Author Book Award in Arles. Her works are held in public and private collections (Donata Pizzi Collection, MuNAF, Civic Museums of Udine). Since 2024, she has been a member of the collective The Glorious Mothers.
